A Savior is Born

In the days of Caesar Augustus,
When the entire world was taxed,
Joseph traveled out of Nazareth, with Mary at his side,
Into the city of Bethlehem,
They never lost their stride.

Mary was great with child,
While in the city of David,
And during her visit,
Her days were accomplished,
And a baby boy was delivered.

Mary brought forth her first born son,
And wrapped Him in swaddling clothes,
She laid Him in a manger,
For in the Inn, there was no room.

There were shepherds in the field that night,
Watching over their flock till morn,
When the angel of the Lord came upon them,
All around, His glory was shone.

The shepherd’s reaction was that of fear,
Until the angel said to them,
Fear not:  For behold,
I bring good tidings and great joy,
For each and everyone to hear.

Unto you is born, in the city of David,
A Savior, which is Christ the Lord,
And as a sign, you shall behold,
A babe lying in a manger wrapped in swaddling clothes.

Suddenly, along with the angel
Appeared a multitude of heavenly host,
Praising God and saying, Glory to God in the highest,
Peace on earth, Good will toward men, was their heavenly boast.

A son was born, a child was given,
We call Him, Wonderful, Counselor, The Everlasting Father,
We call Him, The Mighty God, The Prince of Peace,
We call Him, Savior.
