Goodbye "Honey"

Thank you God for giving me back,
My “honey” when he needed me the most,
His love for me, I’ll never forget,
Nor the trip to “NOWHERE” when we would get lost.

Thank you for the man I adored,
That I referred to as my “honey”,
The beautiful flowers that he gave me each day,
Made my day bright and sunny.

Honey, I imagine,
You’re with the angels above,
And once again you’re spreading your love,
I also imagine, to the angels you bring,
Your love and kindness as you spread your wings.

Honey, I imagine,
Angels surrounding you to welcome you there,
As they open their wings wide,
They acknowledge your courage and all of your strength,
And embrace you with pride.

Honey, I imagine,
The angels awed at your patience and your undying faith
As they each took turns touching your glowing face,
They knew that you had much love for Christ,
As they showered you with God’s heavenly grace.

Honey, I imagine,
Each angel greeted you with care,
Because they met no stranger there,
One kissed your cheek for your kind ways,
The other for your worked filled days,
And then an angel took your hand,
And whispered softly in your ear,
“You’ve made it home Emmett, you’re finally here.”

Honey, I imagine,
You whispered back to them,

My heart is no longer troubled,
And I also love the Lord,
So take me to the mansion,
That my Master has prepared.

Cowboys' Farewell

My soul says yes, yes, yes
This is God’s will and I am blessed
If not for my heavenly father up above
          If not for my husband,
My friend, my soul mate and my devoted love
I would not be the strong black woman that I’ve become
We ran a powerful race and the race was won.

Cowboy, you had a unique way of calling my name
The sound of your sweet voice, I shall never forget
“Pudding I need you”, is what you would say
When your needs weren’t being met
“Laura Virginia”, you’d call to me,
And you would gently kiss my neck.

You taught me how to fight
When you knew how much I wanted to win
You wouldn’t let me quit, and my heart went out to you then
“Honey”, you would say “you’re a fighter not a quitter”
You were always true to me, you never tried to pretend
Our marriage was blessed from heaven above
Our experience was a spiritual love.

You said to, “Plan our work and work our plan”,
That’s when I knew you were an awesome man
You never failed me, you always came through
          And then you asked me
          This one thing to do

          I will do for you
I will do for you, Cowboy
          I will do for you
          “I Won’t Complain”

A Man of many Hats

Plan your work and work your plan.
                                          -Cowboy-

            Hat of a Christian
When Cowboy’s parents’ introduced him,
To our Lord and Savior,
He learned that throughout his life,
He was loved; forever in God’s favor.

Hat of a Son
There came a blossoming of dedication, faith, love and hope,
From the love that grew within this man,
He soon became secure enough,
To plan his work and work his plan.

Hat of a Husband
Cowboy knew that the head of every man,
Was his Father and Savior; Jesus Christ,
And the head of every woman is the man,
Cowboy dedicated himself to his sweet Laura Virginia,
He honored her by listening, when she would give advice.

Hat of a Friend
This hat is a rare gift, always faithful and true,
When you need someone, whom you can depend,
With a smile as big as his heart would allow,
Cowboy opened the door to all as a friend.

Hat of a Father
Loving and giving, caring and sharing
Cowboy was a special man when it came to family,
His bond was strong and enduring as he shared his life of protector and provider,
You could count on him to always be a man who gave unselfishly.

Hat of a Cowboy
Some cowboy’s tales are left untold,
Some live forever; instead,
To remind us of sweet memories, of a life we all once knew,
“Happy Trails to You”, is all that’s said.
