Foster Care

Foster Care

Early one Sunday morning
I couldn’t forget if I tried,
Father left me abandoned,
And my precious mother had died.

It wasn’t easy for me to perceive,
What happened on this day,
Because I was taken from my beautiful home,
And silently rushed away.

Strange was the scene that I encountered,
As I walked anxiously through the door,
Of a house filled with staring faces,
None I’ve ever met before.

Each child that lived in this Foster Care,
Were patiently waiting for a home,
They all had different cases, you see,
But as for me,
My fate was truly unknown.

Some of the children suffered,
 From abuse or neglect,
But I held strong to my faith,
And prayed, God please protect.

Please send to me Lord,
A loving and caring mother,
And a man that I can love and respect,
Someone I can call, father.

Meanwhile, the family that I’m with,
Has planted all the seeds,
To redirect my path in life,
Through their unconditional love of my needs.

So while waiting for that blessed day,
I was finally told,
We’ve found a family just for you
And we think they might,
Adopt you too.

My heart was racing,
I couldn’t hold still,
Have my prayers been answered?
Is this God’s will?

It looks like my family has always been,
The home that I’ve been living in.
The selfless love, the respect for one another,
The family who I now call my sister, my brother.

We formed a bond,
And there was sacrifice,
Knowing I couldn’t return home,
They redirected my life.

They gave me shelter and nourishment,
Thank God I’m finally there,
In a home built from teamwork,
My home is Foster Care.

The Vine

One day while deep in thought on my backyard patio,
Wondering why is life so full of things I’ve yet to know,
Life can be tough, with so many choices,
Knowing that in this world, there are too many voices.

I decided to listen to my own and to that of the Lord,
Make my choice wisely, and not leave a void,
So I listened to my own and to that of the Lord,
I needed the guidance, because life had become hard.

I soon focused on things that surrounded me,
Because they were natural, green and pure,
I spotted a bee, flying low and carefree,
And the wind blowing gently, dividing the leaves in a tree.

The fig and the plum tree stood rooted,
Steadfast to the ground,
Standing tall and not moving,
Their foundation was sound.

Then I noticed a vine,
On the wall of my yard,
And I remembered my first sight of its journey-
Yes, from the start.

It started to grow long and straight, to begin,
There were two of them,
Traveling side by side,
The vine had a friend.

They traveled in curves and circles,
Not too many words were said,
No matter how long or distant they became,
They would always meet head to head.

Through their journey,
They would meet other vines,
And become entangled while in route,
But would soon escape to grow another sprout,

One continued to grow, and the other was left behind,
Not knowing where to turn, it would soon become blind,
Their bond was broken- they were no longer friends,
The vine that continued knew that one day it would end.

Like the vine, we grow,
A little each day,
Where our journeys take us, it's hard to say,
Because of the choices that we made in life long ago,
It'll determine who we are today and where we're gonna go.

I Am A Woman

Giving my all, teaching others what I know,
Showing love when it’s needed,
Bearing children and watching them grow,
Giving up life’s pleasures to do a good deed,
For, I am a woman.

Trusting in friends,
Opening up my heart,
Only to find out,
They weren’t real friends from the start,
For, I am a woman.

Facing trials and tribulations,
Wondering how to start the day,
Then remembering to thank God,
Now what exactly should I say?
For, I am a woman.

God, you created me from Adam’s rib, this I’m sure,
But I think and I wonder,
Why all the troubles I have to endure?
I’m gracious, Lord don’t get me wrong,
I’m sure you’ve heard these prayers before,
But we all have troubles,
Some, even more,
For, I am a woman.

Live with dignity and honor, and not with shame,
Possess goodness and kindness and gratitude each day,
If these things aren’t inside me, then who’s to blame,
For these qualities will strengthen me, come what may,
For, I am a woman.

Grace and beauty and wearing the best clothes,
Do not make me a woman, everyone knows,
I’ll reach deep inside for what’s been hidden for years,
And yes, if I must, I will shed a few tears,
For, I am a woman.

Build up your strength, your love, your hope,
Don’t close the doors- don’t rock the boat,
With these things within, you certainly can’t fail,
Indeed for you, life will surely prevail,
For, we are all God’s women.

Why A Hug?

I need a hug,
When I’m feeling sad,
And also when, I’m feeling bad,
That’s when I need a hug.

Give me a hug,
When I’m in pain, a hug is what I need,
A simple hug will ease the pain,
And make it better again.
Come hug me, will you please.

I want a hug,
   When I’m feeling weak,
To give me strength,
When I’m at my peak,
Oh! How much I want a hug.

I’d love a hug,
For reassurance,
To lift my spirits,
And promote endurance,
I’d love to have a hug.

Oh! Hug me,
   When I’m filled with glee,
Because even when,
I’m feeling good,
The time is right for you and me,
Oh! Hug me, hug me; hug me.

Just hug me,
For no reason why,
And I’ll hug you back,
Now please don’t cry, oh me oh my,
For the sake of love, just hug me.

Brick by Brick

When a
When a ferocious storm has swept away
   All that you’ve cherished,
And there’s nothing left,
 Of what you’ve once possessed.

When you’ve been taken by surprise,
And all your doubts and fears,
Have been blown in your face for you to face,
And your eyes are blurred from all the tears.

When all in one day, you’ve lost many years,
All of your hopes and dreams,
And the shattered pieces are slowly drifting,
Never to return, so it seems.

Time is suppose to be a great healer,
But time is running out,
It has the movements of a clock,
You can only move it forward,
As it go, tick tock, tick tock, tick tock.

What do you do to rebuild lost love?
How do you regain your hope and faith?
But most of all, what about trust?
When some memories were bad,
 And some were great.

When you were young you learned of Him,
And where to always put your trust,
To lean on Him and to allow Him,
To take your burdens, if you must,
 And you must.

He already knows what you can bear,
He looks down on you, and you can feel,
That He’s there, because He’s there.

He will wash away all your tears,
And take away those dreadful fears.
His way is love and to forgive,
His love is forever and His ways are to heal,

So in your storm and time of conflict,
Take His hand and start to rebuild,
Brick by brick,
Day by day,
Brick by brick.

A Heart of Thorns

I count the hours,
Until the last thorn is removed,
I count the abuse,
I no longer have to prove.

I sit alone,
And I wonder, why?
And while remembering the past,
I try not to cry.

Four boys are born,
But one was to die,
Why not me?
I pray to the sky.

A mother and father,
With much love concealed,
Gave me none,
I was left unfulfilled.

Each day that I strive,
To remove a thorn,
I’m worn and torn.

I’m counting the hours,
For these thorns to free me,
And the moment,
That my heart is finally free,
I will let it be, I will let it be.

Rejection to Perfection

Run, run little girl,
How far can you run away?
With a life that’s full of fear,
You forgot how to pray,
Uncover your emotional head,
Look at what’s around you,
Discover a world of love,
Walk in the morning dew,
Get ready to be awakened,
Even though your heart is breaking,
Open the door to your mind,
Walk ahead, don’t lag behind,
There is beauty in your heart,
Love is your reward,
Don’t be afraid,
Raise your head,
Believe in yourself,
Like everyone else,
Recognize the enemy that portrays rejection,
Allow the Lord to ignite perfection,
Keep running little girl,
Don’t stumble or fall,
At the end of your journey,
You shall have it all,
The pain will be gone
There’s nothing to fear,
No more anger or guilt,
There’s pride in your step as you move from the rear,
Praise God for your courage,
With a burst of renewed faith,
Praise Him for high self-esteem,
That was well worth the wait,
From paralysis to walking,
Blind, but now can see,
Release all of your burdens,
For a closer walk with Thee.
